Two years ago, in a galaxy very, very close to here...
Looney Tunes brought in the ACME Intern to tell a social media story with a novel, characterized approach that invited fans along for a zany journey. This persona was a huge hit, but we needed to find a way to reach Gen Z and inspire a new group of social-savvy youths to love the Looney Tunes.
Enter TikTok.
TikTok is where Gen Z lives, laughs, and loves. Its humor is chaotic and unpredictable. As it just so happens, so are the Looney Tunes!
This adventure was not without its challenges.
We knew that Gen Z is highly suspicious of brands entering their social spaces.
TikTok’s bread and butter lies in its interactive components. Being in entertainment, there are strict legal barriers that barred us from utilizing 3rd-party audio and duetting with strangers on the platform.
We would have to work smart and hard to make friends here.
So what in tarnation did we do!?
Rather than blowing the doors down with a grandiose entrance, we devised a soft launch to avoid being labeled as CRINGE.
By quietly (but prolifically) publishing the bejeezes out of our content, we built a solid nest egg showcasing our personality to gain good will with our audience. Since then, we've picked up the pace with our cadence, netting out at 200+ posts (and many more on the way!)
Above all, we aimed to harness what makes Looney Tunes special: Nonsensical but relatable humor.
We got Looney with content that felt right at home on TikTok
who wants a strip? 🥓 #looneytunes #daffyduck #porkypig #bacon
or you could just do that 😬 #looneytunes #bugsbunny #fitspo #mountainclimbing
I didn’t want to say this, but… bugs may have control issues.
We put the ACME Intern’s distinctly cheeky personality to work, humanizing our handle even more by getting chatty with our community in the comments section, averaging over 200 replies per month.
We cemented connections with our audience by creating tailored video replies directly to commenters.
On Saturday, August 27, Looney Tunes went LIVE to begin a new series
This series, Saturday Morning Cartoons LIVE with the ACME Intern, featured the ACME Intern's bedroom, as he casually invites viewers to watch classic Looney Tunes cartoons and chat on select Saturdays. The setting evoked a low-fi filming style that is familiar to TikTok.
The sentiment from fans was overwhelmingly positive, leading to more livestream engagement than 98% of other profiles with similar following. Can you believe them carrots?!
